Applied Psychology
Psychology is the study of the human brain and how it functions. It is important to know this because it is a key to understanding the world, we must first learn and understand about ourselves and then expand out, and us the knowledge that we know about yourself to help change the world for a better community, life and experiences. Psychology helps us understand why we do things, and help us understand why issues like bullying occur in our society. “Bullying is a distinctive pattern of deliberately harming and humiliating others. It's a very durable behavioral style, largely because bullies get what they want—at least at first. Bullies are made, not born, and it happens at an early age, if the normal aggression of two-year-olds isn't handled well” ("bulling ", 2002). We are the one that create bullying, but some may ask how if we don't see it happening.
We wonder how a bully becomes a bully, bullying is a learned behavior. “Bullies are very often people who have been bullied or abused themselves. Sometimes they are experiencing life situations they cannot cope with, that leave them feeling helpless and out of control.” (TktTuder, 2000). There are different reasons as to the behavior of bullies; most bullies behave in a dominant way. Some act like that for the bad things in their lives that left them with anger. Some just want attention; even if the attention they receive is negative they still crave it. It may be the only attention that they receive. This can lead to long term effects on the bullies. “Bullies can suffer long-term effects of bullying if their behavior is not addressed. Compelling research confirms that bullies are twice as likely as their peers to have criminal convictions and four times more likely to be multiple offenders.” (Abel, 2010)
